Well – it seems clear from the news so far that it will take some time for the picture for business post-Brexit to emerge. No doubt we will survive regardless of the deal our politicians strike with the EU and the rest of the world but in what shape? Until we see the deal on the table it’s difficult to predict the likely impact of Brexit on business and our trading relationships.

What we can say with certainty is that it needs to be a smooth ride. The biggest negative short to medium term impact is likely to come from the way sterling shapes up. Chinese imports and commodities such as oil are traded in dollars and sterling is at a 35 year low against the usd which is a worry.  It is therefore imperative that the government take steps to ease the ride and smooth out the bumps of a volatile currency market in the coming months and years.
